Research as a Custom Sports Packaging Design Firm

Our first research step was examining the relevant market trends. In the target markets, sports equipment is prevalent. Sports packaging design trends ranged from minimalist to image-heavy. We also analyzed several of Vergali’s direct competitors and even a few sock packaging design options.

Bonus Challenge

The added challenge with this sports packaging project was the competition. All-purpose sports pads are an economical option. That meant we needed to convince consumers that specific basketball pads were worth the investment.

Design Inspiration

The sports packaging design inspiration came from the sport primarily. We wanted to convey the benefits heavily. Vergali also offered a well-established brand, from which we were able to incorporate many of those elements.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

The professional design team returned several sports packaging and sock packaging design concepts. We removed the more ludicrous ideas. Then we compared the packaging side by side. The final decision came down to effectively conveying the sport.

Results

The Vergali team adored the final sports packaging design. The company contracted a sports packaging manufacturer immediately. The new concept hit the shelves over the next couple months. Last we heard, Vergali was beginning the design process for another sports pad product.
