LocalKnowledge brought a creative challenge for the company’s Merino base layer clothing package design. Stan Agency accepted the challenge and began putting together a unique clothing packaging design that would stand out on the activewear shelves. It took a significant amount of research and several concepts, but the team nailed the design.
Challenge Components
- Niche market
- Conveying all the benefits
- Inspiring consumers
Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm
Stan Agency takes the research phase of each project seriously. We examined the trends in the intended markets, including the USA. Merino wool clothing fits in multiple markets, from travel clothing to adventure wear. That gave us many examples of clothing package design from which to draw ideas.
Bonus Challenge
The particular challenge with this clothes packaging design is conveying all the benefits. Merino wool is more expensive than other clothing options, so consumers need the benefits illustrated for them. We needed to include as many benefits of Merino wool into our clothing packaging design as possible, so consumers have more reasons to buy.
Design Inspiration
We decided that we wanted to focus on the adventure wear market as the team was creating concepts. This choice provided us with ample inspiration from a variety of climates. We also examined the LocalKnowledge brand for other inspiration since the company already had successful products on the market.
Narrowing Down the Final Options
The concepts the package design team came up with ranged from subtle to florescent. We removed the designs that were too far outside of the established clothes packaging branding guidance. Then we examined the remaining concepts for eye catchiness and how well the design conveyed the benefits of Merino wool.
