KIDS PACKAGING DESIGN

Challenge

ClickyHips needed a new baby packaging design for its popular sleep sack products. These products are required to reach parents, some of whom would be shopping sleep deprived on account of their new arrivals. Stan Agency took the challenge of these packaging designs for a kids’ product and set our top-rated design team to it.
Challenge Components
  • Saturated market
  • Safety considerations
  • Consumers experiencing significant life changes

Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm

Part of kid packaging design involves significant amounts of research. We needed to examine the markets and trends, including those in the USA, for how parents are buying items for young children. We looked at countless examples of baby packaging design and packaging design for kids before the team began drawing up concepts

Bonus Challenge

One challenge with baby product packaging design is anticipating the mindset of the new parents buying the product. Everyone reacts differently to significant changes like adding a baby to the family. These big life changes can alter how people respond to traditional marketing tactics for their age group.

Design Inspiration

We drew most of our design inspiration from the sleep sack itself, or rather what it promotes. Sleep is a calm time and typically rejuvenates the sleeper. Therefore, the team aimed for a quiet aesthetic on this packaging design for kids project. Additionally, we examined all the different ways to represent sleep within the baby packaging design.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

The design team produced several outstanding packaging options. We eliminated any that were too loud in terms of design first. Then we made sure each design met the ClickyHips brand guidelines. The final decision was made after a shelf comparison, so we knew the plan had the right mix of eye-catching and soothing.

Result

The ClickyHips team approved the final design choice and took the packaging design for kids into production. Once enough units were available, the old packaging was phased out. ClickyHips has noticed an increase in sales figures, though the company did also perform a coordinated marketing push with the new packaging design.

The Deliverable

The Final Package:
  • One complete custom box design
  • Separate package design elements for reuse
Overall, the final design for the ClickyHips project came out soothing. We used calm whites and soothing lavender for most of the elements. The cartoon children sleeping peacefully look like every parents’ dream, which increases the attraction of the product. We look forward to hearing more about ClickyHips success and helping with the company’s next baby packaging redesign.
