Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm

Our first step was researching market trends through competitor packaging analysis. We found that many cigarette companies choose colored packaging designs that draw the eye. We then knew we needed to work the design in the opposite direction.

Bonus Challenge

In the USA, cigarettes must meet strict labeling and packaging requirements. We researched these extensively. Then we needed a way to incorporate them into our overall clean packaging design. This balance between this necessity and aesthetics required careful consideration throughout our process.

Design Inspiration

Our clean packaging design inspiration came primarily from minimalism. The minimalist aesthetic is known for creating impactful designs without too many elements. This was also ideal because of the cigarette packaging regulations. We let the team have relatively free rein during the concept creation stage this time.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

The packaging design team produced several amazing clean concepts. We began the meeting using the brand and minimalism criteria. Then we considered ideas based on how well each stood out on a shelf against its competition.

Result

The 7 Stars team loved the clean packaging design. The company immediately began producing the design. Stan Agency did receive a note letting us know that 7 Stars recorded a sales increase around the same time the new clean packaging was deployed.
