ValuablePet brought Stan Agency a unique label design challenge. The company creates supplements and other products for pets. The company needed an exceptional rectangle label design for the bottle so that more people would buy the product. We eagerly accepted the challenge.

Research as a Custom Label Design Firm

Our first step was creating a research plan. We checked the Salmon Oil’s target market, the USA. Then we examined some rectangle label designs from the direct competitors of ValuablePet. These revealed a trend towards image-heavy designs. We decided then that we needed to design in a distinct direction.

Bonus Challenge

The significant challenge with this rectangle label design project is consumer wariness. Pet supplements in the USA are not required to prove they work. This trend means consumers distrust Salmon Oil. We needed a way to convey safety and honesty in the label design.

Design Inspiration

Our big inspiration was the product. We wanted to convey the wild places the salmon were caught. Then we looked at the ValuablePet brand. This provided some color inspiration. The design team took these elements back to their desks.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

The Stan Agency label design team produced several innovative rectangle concepts. We began by checking brand cohesion. From there, it was onto the designs that stood out on a shelf. The final determinant was a focus group.

Result

The ValuablePet team loved the new design. It went into production immediately. Then the product hit the distribution network. By all accounts, the Salmon Oil is selling well and helping many pets.
