Challenge

Primal Ridge brought a unique project challenge to Stan Agency with the solo cooking system packaging design. The system needed an eye-catching packaging design for the box, so it stood out in outdoor stores amongst the stove options. We eagerly accepted the challenge and began designing a box for the solo cooking system.

Research as a Custom Product Packaging Design Firm

The Stan Agency team began research immediately. This market research is necessary, especially in niche markets like solo cooking system package design. We examined trends in a few markets, including the USA. We found several systems that use similar marketing philosophies to Primal Ridge as well.

Bonus Challenge

Solo cooking system packaging design is an incredible niche subject. We needed in-depth research in order to create a package that worked and drove product sales. Additionally, doing product package design in a niche market means adhering to different principles than operating in the typical saturated one.

Design Inspiration

Primal Ridge offered most of our design inspiration. The whole brand is built around being outdoors in the wild. That opened up a variety of scenes as well as the explorer spirit. We were able to pull in aesthetics that matched the existing brand. This decision made it easier for our design team to narrow the concepts.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

While the product packaging design team produced several amazing concepts, we had to narrow down the possibilities. We examined the quality concepts for how closely each matched the branding for Primal Ridge. Then we did a shelf test on the remaining ideas to see which one stood out best and conveyed the necessary information.

Result

Primal Ridge accepted the solo cooking system packaging design and began putting the packaging into production. The process took some time before the final concept could be deployed in conjunction with a marketing push. The company did report positive initial feedback, however, among its beta adopters.

The final design used the image from an adventure in the early morning in the mountains. We were able to heavily incorporate Primal Ridge’s brand colors while maintaining a cohesive solo cooking system packaging design. We look forward to seeing Primal Ridge succeed and helping the company deploy future products.
