Challenge

RSCDNA presented a unique conceptual packaging design order. The company creates paternity tests in the USA. It needed an exceptionally well-designed conceptual packaging to sell its tests, ship them, and have the samples returned. We accepted the order.
Challenge Components
  • Niche market
  • Instructions included
  • Consumer product wariness

Research as a Custom Conceptual Packaging Design Firm

Our first conceptual packaging design step was examining the paternity test market. We found a plethora of products and analyzed direct competitors’ packaging. We aggregated this research and decided to exclude certain elements from our own conceptual packaging design.

Bonus Challenge

The significant challenge with this conceptual packaging design order was innovating the design. It needed to include clear instructions and a method of returning the samples. This made the conceptual packaging design more complicated since it also needed to draw the eye.

Design Inspiration

Our primary inspiration was the product’s outcome. DNA testing can help create families, and we wanted to depict that outcome. We also wanted to inspire calm through our conceptual packaging design. The paternity testing process is an anxious time.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

The professional design team introduced several creative conceptual packaging designs. We narrowed those concepts first on instruction clarity. Then we looked for the most calming conceptual packaging design idea.

Result

The RSCDNA team liked the conceptual packaging design. The company quickly began using it when it shipped new paternity tests. RSCDNA emailed Stan Agency its compliments on how useful the conceptual packaging design was.

The Deliverable

The Final Package:
  • One complete custom conceptual packaging design
  • Separate package design elements for reuse
The completed conceptual packaging design featured a father and child. We used primarily calming blue elements. The layout also features easy to read instructions with plenty of white space. We look forward to assisting RSCDNA again.
