Challenge

Little Shiny Box presented a unique jewelry packaging design challenge to Stan Agency. Little Shiny Box offers a line of various jewelry products from earrings to necklaces. The company needed a cohesive package design that worked across the whole jewelry line. We were thrilled and began drawing up concepts.
Challenge Components
  • Saturated market
  • Varying packaging sizes
  • Creating a chic feel without stereotyping

Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm

The first step in any packaging design project is the research. During this phase, we examined jewelry packaging design trends in Little Shiny Box’s target markets, including the USA. We needed to know what was out there for this kind of product line so we could create a unique concept. We also examined the market for inspiration we could incorporate into awesome ideas.

Bonus Challenge

The trick with this project was finding a way to convey the chic jewelry inside without succumbing to packaging design stereotypes. Jewelry package designs tend to towards simplistic design with bows or other flourishes. We needed a plan that still suggested jewelry packaging, but also stood out as something unique.

Design Inspiration

Other jewelry box designs were not good sources of inspiration. Instead, we focused on Little Shiny Box’s existing branding. The company had a color palette already picked out, along with a preferred aesthetic. We dove deeper into the company’s refined aesthetic and found all the inspiration we needed to produce a stellar design.

Narrowing Down the Final Options

Our packaging design team produced several innovative design concepts. The design meeting where we picked the final idea was tense. We looked for the designs that best fit Little Shiny Box’s design aesthetic while still standing apart in the field. Ultimately, we ended up taking one design series and altering the colors to suit our purposes better.

Result

Little Shiny Box was able to get the jewelry packaging design into production immediately. As it started to ship to consumers, Little Shiny Box shared the first customer feedback impressions. The box designs were a hit, and Little Shiny Box even ran a marketing series using the jewelry packaging design on the business’s social media.

The Deliverable

The Final Package:
  • Three complete custom jewelry package designs
  • Miscellaneous packaging components
  • Separate package design elements for reuse
The final design concept featured a mix of white and saturated pink. We opted for a minimalist concept that emphasized the Little Shiny Box logo, which is unique in and of itself. The quality jewelry packaging designs worked well together as customers ordered multiple pieces of jewelry. We look forward to working more with Little Shiny Box as the company expands.
