Life Snacks presented Stan Agency with an exciting packaging design challenge for its individual packs of nut and oat granola bars. The unique makeup of these products and the product’s intended market meant we needed to create a unique packaging design that helped Life Snacks stand out against the intense competition.
Challenge Components
- Saturated market
- Differentiating flavors
- Consumer wariness of vegan and gluten-free products
Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm
Our research into the market trends and competitors included all the product’s intended markets, such as the USA. We examined granola bars and items close to the product on the market. These included individual packs of nuts and oatmeal packaging design. We analyzed several packaging trends to narrow down possible packaging designs.
Bonus Challenge
Life Snacks packaging design project meant that we needed to consider preconceptions in the intended markets as well. In the USA, for example, health food is treated suspiciously, as are vegan and gluten-free cooking. Therefore, our packaging needed to tackle these preconceptions and encourage people to try the outstanding product inside.
Design Inspiration
We knew that individual packs of nuts, granola bars, and oatmeal packaging design were the competition. Many of these use colors to differentiate flavors. Meanwhile, we also knew that we wanted to include a visual display of ingredients so that consumers would know what was inside without reading the label. The question was how to add them.
Narrowing Down the Final Options
The Stan Agency design team presented several innovative options for the Life Snacks project. The meeting weighed each option and began by discarding those that too closely resembled individual packs of nuts or oatmeal packaging design. Then we focused on the concepts with the best colors and representation of the ingredients.
