Audience Research

Our first cosmetic label design step was researching Harita’s audience. The product was intended for cosmetic application, which skews female. We also found that coconut oil tends to be a younger generation item in many places.

Research as a Custom Cosmetic Label Design Firm

We also examined several direct competitors’ cosmetic label designs. We found that coconut oil is a popular product. Competitors favored white and cream color schemes with a few coconuts on the label. We decided to go another direction with these market trends.

Bonus Challenge

The challenge with this cosmetic label design project involved the product. In the USA, people advocate that coconut oil is a cure-all. These years of mysticism have left more rational consumers skeptical regarding the benefits. We needed a reassuring cosmetic label design.

Design Inspiration

Our primary cosmetic label design inspiration was the product. Coconuts are an amazing food that has broad applications. We wanted to include that perfection where possible. We were also inspired by the unique cosmetic industry label designs.

Element Decisions

We knew we needed to feature the Harita logo prominently and incorporate the company’s branding. We also decided on including the coconuts. Rather than feature them prominently, we created a background design that let the cosmetic label design speak.

Narrowing Down the Final Optionss

The professional design team produced several amazing cosmetic label design concepts. We eliminated those that were too close to the competition. We examined which best conveyed the pure coconut nature and company branding.


The Harita team loved the cosmetic label design. The company previously contracted a label printing firm, so the company was able to produce it quickly. Once the cosmetic label design was on shelves, Harita saw a sales spike.

The completed cosmetic label design featured a cream and white layout with gold accents. We placed the coconuts in a background pattern. Then we added the necessary labeling. We look forward to assisting Harita again.
