Order No. 1 Dog Food Packaging Design 2021

Challenge

When Wellpur Pets came to the Stan Agency, we knew we were in for a challenge. As it stands now, the market for dog treats overflows with outstanding products. The problem was creating dog food packaging that would put Wellpur Pets’ CBD line into customers’ carts.

Our research

From the outset, we examined trends in pet food packaging in Wellpur Pets’ primary market, the USA. CBD is still a major buzzword there, so we had lots of examples for inspiration. However, dog packaging design ranges from intricate to simple, which meant we had many drafts trying to find the right balance.

Additional challeng

For an additional challenge, Wellpur Pets planned on five different flavors. We needed to distinguish those flavors so consumers could grab them off the shelf at a glance while still maintaining the overall branding. That led to debates on how to create a cohesive brand even with all those colors.

Narrowing down

We ended up narrowing down the design options slowly and ultimately combined the two favorites into a fabulous dog packaging design. The package background and layout created the cohesion, while the bright colors ensured customers grabbed the right package off the shelf.

Result

The results were a professional dog treat packaging design that flew off the shelves. We found that the universal design elements helped create a fun brand that Wellpur Pets also incorporated in their social media marketing. That’s quite something for a dog food packaging design!

Final product

The final product included designs for five different dog treat pouches. Each package used the same background and layout, featuring pawprints and a gorgeous dog model. Each of the five designs included a unique bright color for layout elements, thus distinguishing each flavor. We can’t wait to work with Wellpur Pets again on their next dog food packaging design for their new lines as they expand.
