Examining who buys beeswax wrappers was our first step. We found that the purchasers tended to be female. These products are also used across a wide demographic since eco friendliness is important right now.

We investigated plastic wrap alternative industry market trends. We also found several direct USA competitors so we could examine the eco friendly packaging. We saw many used whole hives and bees. We decided we wanted to reimagine those in our design.

The added challenge with this eco friendly packaging design project was the consumer. People who buy eco friendly products have new product wariness. They wonder if the new product will work for their needs. We needed an eco friendly packaging design that overcame the concern.
Design Inspiration
Our primary inspiration was the beehive. These hives contain rich colors and avid worker bees. They are also geometric, which inspired the eco friendly packaging design layout. We kept the colors and added uniqueness.
Element Decisions
We decided early that we wanted to reimagine the beehive. A team member found and created different beehive art sets. We then let the team work through how they wanted to incorporate the styles and which they wanted the eco friendly packaging design to feature.
