Essence presented an advanced challenge with its custom order. The company sells luxury travel accessories. One of the company’s packages needed a user guide for its box for safety, compliance, and user experience. Stan Agency accepted the challenge and immediately put our top-rated design team on it.
Challenge Components
- Niche market
- Multiple products
- Consumer wariness
Audience Research
Before design began, we looked into the people most likely to buy Essence’s travel products. That market involved people who were on the go frequently, which tended to be those traveling for business. This insight provided a demographic for the team to target and several design ideas based on previously successful work.
Research as a Custom User Guide Design Firm
As part of our process, we examined other companies’ travel accessory user guides. Each displayed unique branding, but most tended toward being stiff. This was especially true in the USA. This would make them unappealing to consumers, even if those were the ones following the current user guide trends.
Bonus Challenge
The significant challenge in this order was creating a cohesive guide to work with multiple products. The Essence user guide needed to explain the ottoman, travel pillow, and more in a coherent manner. That led to several team debates about the best way to incorporate all of the necessary information.
Design Inspiration
Essence already had an established brand, which served as inspiration. We also drew on the concept of home, which is always comforting. The team felt that was the best example of what the products were supposed to create when consumers use it.
Narrowing Down the Final Options
The Stan Agency design team produced several outstanding ideas, and narrowing the field was difficult. Ultimately, the choice came down to functionality and matching the Essence brand. That meant eliminating some advanced concepts.
