Laevu brought an advanced paper packaging design project to Stan Agency involving the company’s beeswax wrappers. These wrappers serve as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap and bags. That is why the main task was to create structural packaging design. However, since it is a niche market, it presented a challenge to Stan Agency’s design team, one that we happily accepted.
Challenge Components
- Niche market
- Recyclable packaging requirements
- Consumer skepticism
Research as a Custom Packaging Design Firm
Not only did the team need to create an eye-catching design, but we also needed to do a packaging structural design to meet eco-friendly standards. This task led us to examine several markets where paper package designs are common and structural, as well as the intended markets in Germany and eventually, the USA.
Bonus Challenge
The extra challenge with the Laevu project was the recyclable packaging requirements. In this case, we produced a packaging structural design with few colors to meet this requirement. Producing paper box packaging designs is an art form for niche markets currently, so we needed to create an out of the box solution.
Design Inspiration
Most of our inspiration for this design came from nature, which is where the product came from as well. Nature, and specifically the areas around beehives, supplied more than ample inspiration and creative options. We also used examples of previous eco-friendly packaging designs to ensure we had the right elements for smooth production.
Narrowing Down the Final Options
The design team came up with several innovative packaging structural design concepts. We began by narrowing to those designs that fully embraced the eco-friendly principles of the brand. Then we looked at the efficiency of production and cost-effectiveness since paper packaging design is also an efficient option for many products.
